KADDB Signs Contract with AIS Inc. for the Next Stage of King Abdullah II Special Forces Training Center (KASOTC)

FARNHAM – On Saturday, January 15th, 2005, The King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau (KADDB) signed a contract with Advanced Interactive Systems Inc. (AIS), for the second phase of work to develop the detailed design of the King Abdullah II Special Forces Training Center (KASOTC).

The first phase of work for the design of the ‘Master Plan’ was conducted by Raytheon Technical Services Company (RTSC) and AIS Inc. This contract, which was placed in January 2003 and completed in mid 2004, was for the development of rough orders of magnitude for the three sites at Yajooz, Aqaba, and Zarqa, in addition to delivering a physical model of Yajooz site plan.

The second phase of work, as agreed upon within this contract, will focus on the development and implementation of the Master Plan by developing a detailed design and tender documentation for all facilities within KASOTC.

King Abdullah II Special Forces Training Center was initiated at His Majesty's instructions to have a center to serve the training needs of both national and regional Special Forces, Counter Terrorism Forces, Security and Emergency Service Units, and to act as the premier Live Fire Training Center of the Middle East. This state of the art center will provide professional training for all kinds of end users and provide the region with a world class training facility.

Yajooz will be the largest of the complexes and will be divided into five training areas; urban range, tactical range, drivers range, outdoor range, vehicle and aircraft mock-ups, as well as administrative facilities. Aqaba will provide the maritime counter terrorism training complex, while Zarqa will host a 1000 meter sniper range.

The capabilities integrated into this center focus on Special Forces/ Special Operations, hostage rescue, internal security, peace keeping, VIP protection, driver training, public order, civil defense, emergency/first responder, border control, and command and control training, in addition to scenario-based training that may be integrated into the center.
